VP Finance

The Vice President of Finance oversees the financial strategy and direction of the Sprott Marketing Students' Association. The VP of Finance will be responsible for developing and maintaining the SMSA budget throughout the academic year, providing approval on financial documentation, purchasing, and tracking all financial transactions towards for efficient operations.

Weekly time commitment: 3 hours

Responsibilities​

• Overseeing the annual budget for SMSA

• Working closely with the President and Executive team to determine purchasing requirements for the year

• Completing insurance forms and enforcing appropriate policies for all SMSA events

• Applying for financial aid (eg. grants) for SMSA to fund events throughout the year

• Liaising with SBSS VP Finance to maintain clear lines of communication regarding SMSA financial status and to secure SBSS funding at the beginning of each semester

Qualifications

• Recommended for a Second or Third Year Student

• Ability to deal with confidential information in a sensitive manner

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel

• Previous financial planning experience is considered an asset
