Must-Visit Ottawa Restaurants in Hintonburg

Looking to explore the city through a foodie adventure? Then you’re at the right blog post!

Let’s start this off by organizing our journey by neighbourhoods. Today we’ll highlight one of my personal favourite Ottawa neighbourhoods to grab some great eats in, Hintonburg, or as some may call it hipster central. Hintonburg has a stunning mosaic of architecture, perfect for a stroll through the neighbourhood with a treat in hand or for nestling into a restaurant to soak in the views.

The Third

1017 Wellington St. W, Ottawa

At The Third everybody knows your name. Well, not exactly, but they do have that kind of familiar, welcoming, cozy atmosphere. They’re a small dedicated staff that serves up a menu of from-scratch diner classics, including snack plates and veggie bowls.

They’re my personal go-to spot for a sunny Friday afternoon hang out in Hintonburg - their patio offers a lot of space nestled in a perfect nook that’s great for taking in the neighbourhood vibes. In the winter months, there’s plenty of seating indoors.

I highly recommend it for any meal of the day - especially their brunch - or even just a quick snack!

What’s on the Menu? From scratch diner classics, snacks, vegetarian, vegan and GF options.

How Much? $4 - $13

Hours? Tues-Fri 11:30am-9pm & Sat-Sun 9am-9pm

Sharpfle Waffle

1130 Wellington St. W #4, Ottawa

A welcomed newcomer to the Hintonburg neighbourhood, Sharpfle Waffle offers a one-of-a-kind treat in the city - Croffles! If you’re unsure of what exactly a croffle is, let me tell you, it’s like if a croissant and a waffle had a baby. It’s buttery, flakey, it melts in your mouth and the flavours offered for each one are so unique and divine you can’t go wrong.

The owners have also taken great care in sourcing the perfect cup of coffee to go with your croffle treat!

What’s on the Menu? Korean Croffles

How Much? $5-$9

Bread By Us

1065 Wellington St. W, Ottawa

A Hintonburg staple for over 9 years, this cozy bakery provides the neighbourhood with warm inviting smells of freshly baked breads, scones, croissants and more every morning. If you’re looking for an early start to your Hintonburg adventures stop by Bread By Us first. Grab a small baked good and a latte and let the warm embrace of all things heavenly smelling scoop you up and start your morning right.

SuzyQ

1015 Wellington St. W, Ottawa

Welcome to one of the great contenders of the donut debate – are you team yeast donut or cake donut? Also, do you spell it donut or doughnut? That last bit was for my own curiosity. Back to the donuts! I personally am a big fan of both because why not!? They both have a lot to offer.

At SuzyQ, they offer light and fluffy yeast donuts that have been dipped in a variety of fun, eye-catching and flavourful toppings. If you’re a fan of The Simpsons and have always wondered what the staple Homer donut tasted like then give their D’OH!nut a try. Or if you’re looking for something more extreme but yet still delicately balanced in flavour, really just give any of their donuts a try, you won’t be disappointed!

What’s on the Menu? Donuts

How Much? $3/donut, $12 6-pack, $24 dozen
