Director, Outreach & External Communications

The Director, Outreach & External Communications will be responsible for managing and strengthening relationships with organizations and people in the Sprott, Carleton University, and Ottawa community. The successful candidate will be responsible of approaching potential sponsors for 2023-2024 academic year, as well as leveraging SMSA's network to find panelists, keynotes, and other guest speakers for SMSA events. This is a great opportunity for a student looking to expand their network and gain a better understanding of the business ecosystem in Ottawa!

Weekly time commitment: 3 hours

Responsibilities​

  • Maintaining strong relations with the Sprott, Carleton University, and Ottawa community

  • Reaching out to potential partners and panelists for Events

  • Reporting to the President on updates regarding updates in the community and potential partnerships

  • Collaborating with Vice President of Marketing, and Vice President of Operations t to create corporate partnership package 

  • Approaching organizations and businesses on partnership opportunities 

  • Working closely with the executive team to complete tasks as needed

Qualifications

  • Recommended for a Second or Third Year Student

  • Strong communication, interpersonal, time management and organization skills

  • Ability to write and speak professionally and respectfully

  • Previous event planning experience is an asset
